King George VI Coronation Stool by B. North & Son, West Wycombe, Circa 1937
A lovely example of this now iconic stool designed by Edward Barnsley for the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, London on 12th May 1937. With stuff-over saddle seat on chamfered squared section legs finished with a silver limed wax. The frame stamped GR VI Coronation and B. North & Son, West Wycombe. A lovely piece of English history and becoming increasingly rare.

Prince of Wales Investiture Chair, Circa 1969
Designed by the late Lord Snowdon for the Prince of Wales Investiture in July 1969 at Caernarfon Castle. Also known as the ‘Red Chair’ this example is offered in very good original condition with some marks and wear to the legs as is to be expected. The seat has a replaced foam interior but retains its original Welsh wool cover.

The Baron Bruno Schroder Mahogany Long-case Clock by William Warren, Royston, Circa 1750
Elegant George III mahogany and inlaid long-case clock by William Warren of Royston. The shaped pediment above an arched door enclosing a 12 inch arched brass dial with 8-day, hour striking movement, subsidiary date, seconds and strike/silent dials.
The trunk with a long arched door incorporating boxwood fan inlay and satinwood banding, the base with conforming fan inlay and satinwood banding raised on ogee bracket feet.
William Warren is recorded as working C1753, however, the case was probably made for this movement C1790.
Provenance: purchased directly from the family of Baron Bruno Schroder, co-owner of the Schroder Institution.

Indian Dowry/ Marriage Chest from Jaisalmer, 19th Century
Often referred to as stick boxes and were used by the desert dwelling tribes of West Rajasthan. Constructed from sticks harvested from the desert and then riveted together with iron fittings.
This example with a wonderful pale, dry patinated surface, displaying years of wear and character. Ideally suited for use as storage in the bedroom or as a unique coffee table.

Provenance, acquired directly from Royal Holloway University of London, commissioned by Thomas Holloway and opened by Queen Victoria in 1886. Forming part of the last original Founders furniture ever likely to be decommissioned from this fantastic building.

George III Sheraton Giltwood Drawing Room Chair, Circa 1795
Attractive Sheraton designed drawing room chair in original distressed gilt finish.
The inspiration for this chair can clearly be seen in Thomas Sheraton’s THE CABINET-MAKER AND UPHOLSTERER’S DRAWING-BOOK.
Details of the front leg can be seen in plate 34, the top rail can be seen in plate 6 and the front leg and arm details can clearly be seen in plate 10.
The underside of the chair carries an old label for SIMKIN’S DEPOSITORY, COLCHESTER and name handwritten in ink, possibly: “Ms Maffett”. There is also a fragmentary label to the frame printed Dublin and 6060.

Solid Oak longcase clock of simple yet elegant form.
With a domed hood and brass capped side pillars, the square solid oak trunk door leading down

A Rare and Large Elizabeth I/ James I Carved Oak Heraldic Beast
A finial from a stair’s half or wall-newel post, circa 1600 – 1620, in the manner of John Bucke (FL. 1611). Carved in the half-round in the form of a greyhound sejant erect collared and chained, the chain of rectangular links, a scroll-ended cartouche between his paws, seated on his haunches on a domed hemisphere, and the capital of a rectangular-section newel post.
This rare finial is of a type still visible on the Grand Staircase at Hatfield House, built by the Cecils in 1611.
